Bowls

A game for everyone

Bowls helps people of all ages to keep fit and healthy, enjoy friendly competition and to have an enjoyable social life.

It’s easy to learn. There will always be someone on hand who is able to advise on the basics of the game and how to play; plus from time to time professional coaching sessions are organised.

About the Club

Our official name is ‘Betley and District Village Hall Bowling Club’, but you don't have to live in Betley. People from a wide area are welcome to play and become members. The club is now well established with a wide cross section of members supporting four league teams and we warmly welcome new recruits .

Membership

The cost of membership is £40 for this year plus a small fee per person per match if playing in a league or friendly game. We also welcome non members to play, if they are accompanied by a member, for £2 a session. New members can join for their first year at a discounted rate.

Subject to pre arranged league matches etc. and maintenance members are able to use the green at any time, whether it’s for individual practise or to play with a group of other members on a social basis. Additionally, there are the following more structured opportunities:

  •  To play in the league teams.

  •  ‘Friendlies’. This is where one off matches are organised with other clubs. These are open to all members no matter how experienced.

  • Club Events. Throughout the season there are competitions arranged for club members i.e. The Mixed Doubles Shield; The Chairman’s Cup and The Carter Cup.

  • Club and ‘Social’ Bowling. Members can get together to organise their own bowling activities such as practice sessions, mini leagues and knockouts.
